MILOS MR2K Roof System Takes Centre Stage at Guinness World Records™-Breaking Replika Festival
MILOS MR2K Roof System Takes Centre Stage at
Guinness World Records™-Breaking Replika Festival supplied by Light Design Ltd
MILOS MR2K 12 x 10mtr roof system, owned and supplied by Light Design Ltd and fully integrated with a LAYHER stage, provided the centrepiece of Replika Festival, where organisers officially secured a new Guinness World Records™ title for the most tribute acts to perform at a music festival ever.
Held from 25–28 June at the picturesque Catton Park, Walton-on-Trent, Derbyshire, Replika Festival brought together one hundred and eight tribute performers across four stages for three days of non-stop live entertainment. The landmark achievement cemented the festival's place in music history while demonstrating the scale and ambition of Europe's largest tribute music festival.

At the heart of the production stood Light Design Ltd’s integrated MILOS MR2K roof structure with double tech sheds, engineered to deliver the strength, reliability and flexibility required to support an intensive programme of back-to-back performances at the main arena – The Catton Stage. The fully integrated structure accommodated extensive lighting, audio and video production while providing a safe, efficient and professional platform capable of meeting the demands of a record-breaking live event all provided and operated by Light Design Ltd.
The festival celebrated more than six decades of music, with audiences enjoying performances spanning classic rock, Britpop, pop, indie, dance and contemporary chart music. Among the headline tribute acts taking to the stage were The Bootleg Beatles, Noasis, Guns 2 Roses, Wrong Jovi, LinkN P4rk, Nickelback UK, WestZone, Got To Be Steps, Got To Be Venga, Dan Budd as Robbie Williams, Rule The World, The Ed Sheeran Experience, Kascada and Sweet Like Sabrina, delivering a soundtrack that appealed to music fans of every generation.
Specified to support the festival's demanding technical production requirements, the 12 x 10 mtr MILOS MR2K roof system created a single engineered structure. The design improved build efficiency, reduced installation complexity and provided a clean, professional finish while supporting the continuous programme of performances that ultimately helped Replika Festival make Guinness World Records™ history. On another area of the festival site, the MILOS MR1T 8x6 mtr roof system delivered back-to-back entertainment on The Forest Stage over the festival weekend.
For Light Design Ltd, the installations demonstrates not only the versatility of the MILOS roof systems but also the value of integrated structural solutions for modern festivals and live events. As organisers continue to seek faster build times, greater production flexibility and uncompromising safety standards, the combination of MILOS roofing and LAYHER staging provides an engineered solution capable of supporting events on the very biggest stage.
Terry Lewsey, Managing Director – Light Design Ltd said:
“This was the first outing for a fully integrated system with the LAYHER sub-base, complete with double tech sheds and ramp access to the rear. Area Four Industries UK worked hard on the design to fully integrate our tech sheds into the LAYHER system, incorporating our existing stage into LAYHER. MILOS remains the industry standard for us, and combining it with LAYHER means we’re working with the very best kit at the highest level.
Light Design Ltd handled all lighting, video and special effects production for the show, running Avolites control with Claypaky, Robe and Ayrton moving lights, alongside On Productions, who handled all on-site audio for this special event. It’s also been a pleasure working with a long-standing client, James Dean at Replika Festival, who we’ve worked with for over a decade. Helping him deliver such a high-pressure, record-breaking attempt – 108 acts across the weekend, with flawless video, lighting and staging changeovers throughout – has been hugely rewarding, and we’re incredibly proud that Light Design Ltd and National Stages helped break this Guinness World Record alongside MILOS and LAYHER.”
As the final encore closed a remarkable weekend at Replika Festival, the integrated MILOS MR2K roof system was instrumental in providing the main-stage platform from which music history was made.
